Add clients from Zapier

Published

PropRetire's Zapier app adds a client to your business whenever something happens in another app, such as a new contact in your CRM or a form sent in. Connect it with an API key from a Business account, then use the Add client action in a Zap. It adds clients and can read nothing back.

What this does for you

Each new client in another app added here as it arrives, with no typing.

1. How do I connect PropRetire?

  1. In PropRetire, open Account settings, select API keys, name a key Zapier and select Make key.
  2. Select Copy key. It shows only until you leave the page.
  3. In Zapier, add a PropRetire step and choose to connect a new account.
  4. Paste the key into API key and continue.

2. How do I add a client from a Zap?

  1. Start the Zap with the app that holds new clients, such as your CRM.
  2. Add a PropRetire step and choose the action Add client.
  3. In Name, put the client's name. If the app keeps first and last names apart, put the first name in Name and the last name in Last name.
  4. In Email, put the client's email if the app has one.
  5. Test the step, then turn the Zap on.

Each client goes through the same checks as a row in Import clients. Nothing is sent to the client. The step gives back the new client's ID.

3. Why did a Zap stop or fail?

  • A client already has this name: the Zap stops for that run and adds nothing, as the client is already in PropRetire.
  • The client has no name: choose the field that holds it in Name.
  • The business is full: it has no room for another client under its limit.
  • PropRetire doesn't know this key: the key was revoked, or its adviser left the business. Make a new key and reconnect.
  • Two-step verification or the subscription: the key works as its adviser's own sign-in does, so it needs both.

4. How do I disconnect it?

In PropRetire's API keys, select Revoke beside the key and then Revoke key. It stops working at once, and the clients it added stay. Turn off any Zap that uses it.
